Teaching apprenticeship and research presentation awards were presented at the 36th Annual Genetics Graduate Student Symposium held on February 27, 2012.
Outstanding Teaching Apprentice awards were presented to Sarah Cash, Laura Constance and April Wynn for their outstanding teaching in GN 311P, the recitation and problem session that accompanies GN 311. Sarah is a PhD student in Dr. Fred Gould's lab, April a Phd student in Dr. Bob Frank's lab and Laura is in the Master of Physiology program.
The award for Outstanding Research Presentation by an advanced student was presented Juan Rosario for his talk on 'The Role of Disco in Specification of the Drosophila Leg'. Juan is a PhD student in Dr. Jim Mahaffey's lab. The award for Outstanding Research Presentation by a first year student was presented to Jessica Nye for her talk on 'Genome-Wide Association Mapping of Heart Rate in Drosophila'. Jessica is a PhD student in Dr. Trudy Mackay's lab.
