Research in the Planchart lab combines high throughput techniques, including next-gen sequencing, proteomics, and transcriptomics, to understand how environmental factors affect vertebrate embryonic development. Currently, we are focused on identifying genetic modifiers of craniofacial development that can be modulated by changes in the environment during embryogenesis. Specifically, we are interested in discovering regulatory genes that confer developmental plasticity, thus buffering an organism from drastic changes in its developmental program that result from changes in its environment.
